Monthly Meetings

Fareham Art Group meets on the last Thursday of each month at Trinity Church Hall, Fareham. Entry is free for members and £3.00 for non-members. Refreshments are available. Please note that in January and February, our demonstrations take place online. On these occasions, members will be sent the relevant joining instructions by email.

A minimum of 5 professional artist demonstrations / informative talks take place each year using a variety of styles and mediums; an opportunity to learn from experts. There is also the opportunity to enter your own work in our competitions to win one of 7 trophies awarded annually. There are no monthly meetings in July and August. The Annual General Meeting is held in September and the Christmas event is held in December.

Weekly Painting Sessions – Tuesdays and Saturdays

St John the Evangelist Church Hall, Upper St Michaels Grove, Fareham;


This is a group-led paint along session, giving an opportunity to learn from fellow artists in a friendly atmosphere. Refreshments are provided.

**Note that the group takes a break for Christmas, Easter and occasionally when the hall is not available.

There will be no meetings on 10th February and 12th May due to hall use for blood doning.

Saturday Morning Class

The opportunity to come along and create art works alongside other members.

This group continues throughout the year with a short break at Xmas and occasional closures due to local events.

This group will not meet on 27th December and will resume on 3rd January 2026.

Exhibitions

The group holds an annual exhibition every autumn to display and sell members’ work. For 2026 event takes place at the Titchfield Community Centre, Mill Street, Titchfield, PO14 4AB on 10 and 11 October.

We seek to exhibit at other exhibitions throughout the year, and these can be arranged by a group of members

2026 Workshops & Live Demonstrations with Professional Artists

Jamel Akib
Thursday 26th March 2026

You are invited to join us on our first live demonstration of the year. This no doubt will be a captivating evening as Jamel creates stunning artwork with his sweeping brush strokes in his unique style.  

Jamel Akib was born in Leigh-on-sea, Essex, England, in 1965 to mixed English and Malaysian parentage. He moved to Sabah, North Borneo at the age of five and returned to England to pursue further education at the age of thirteen. He gained a BA honours Degree in Illustration in 1989.

He began working for the London Observer newspaper while still a student at art college, and has since become an award winning artist involved in many exhibitions and commissions. He has so far illustrated the covers for three booker prize finalists.

He lives in Salisbury, England with his wife and two boys.

Please note we are delighted that Jamel will also be tutoring a full day workshop for members in May 2026.
