About Mark
Painting and drawing have always played an important part in my life, and although largely self-taught, I passed A Level Art as Secondary School and was due to start a course at Chelsea College of Art before a sudden family move forced a major career change. I ended up joining the Royal Navy and there followed a 22 year break in my artistic career (a very enjoyable one at times). Now, as a landscape gardener, I am able to combine my love of the outdoors with my painting.
Working mostly in acrylics, and drawing inspiration from the everyday views around me, my aim is to capture a moment in time in a way the camera cannot; the blinding rays of the sun bouncing off the sea, the early morning sunbeams filtering through the trees or a nodding field of sunflowers. Sometimes I succeed, other times I just have the memories to enjoy.
