Kerry Vaughan demonstration Wildlife in Pastel Thursday 24th September
We are delighted that Kerry Vaughan has agreed to give us a demonstration using pastels to create a picture of a snow leopard. Her work usually takes 3-4 days to complete but she will attempt to complete it during the evening. She will have a finished one to hand just in case! She will focus her demonstration on getting the basics done and some details like the eyes, nose and how to do fur. She will also talk about backgrounds, materials, etc.Kerry is a professional wildlife artist, printmaker and silver jewellery maker. After getting her degree in printmaking and graphic design at the age of 28, Kerry became a freelance illustrator and sold her limited edition handmade prints through galleries. Her work has evolved from watercolour illustrations to pastel wildlife subjects after discovering the wonderful effects that pastel could bring to depicting fur and feathers. Kerry still enjoys some printmaking and also makes and sells silver jewellery from her studio in West Sussex. Her inspiration is always the beautiful countryside and wild animals that surround her home as well as the more exotic wildlife she has seen on safari and abroad. Elaine Reed demonstration Textured Seascape Techniques Thursday 28th May 7.15pm
We are delighted that Elaine Reed has agreed to demonstrate for us using some of her painting techniques; a mixture of masking, wet in wet washes of granulating watercolour paints with real leaves laid into the wet. Then when everything is dry she will do some more drawing, some lifting off and printing over the painted surface. (And a couple of collaged tissue paper moths on top of one).
