Workshop Galleries

Our new and exciting workshop programme will help our members to gain new skills and/or improve existing ones by joining in a variety of workshops and member-led tutorials. An overview of professional artist workshops are shown below, but full details, including additional member-led events, are in the downloadable programme.

Print and Collage Taster Workshop with Rachel Reynolds

Enjoy experimenting with print and collage techniques to create a finished collaged artwork during this taster session. Taking inspiration from natural forms, members will explore the art of collage, colour, print and pattern. You will experiment with a range of monoprint techniques using a gel plate to create patterned papers, before assembling and layering them into a final collage piece. This taster workshop is suitable for members of all abilities and includes all materials.

Seascape Painting with Gouache with Jill Illiffe

Jill Iliffe lead two consecutive workshops on painting seascapes in gouache.  Gouache is a medium that can be very effective, providing strong colour and the opportunity to paint light colours over dark in a range of styles.  However, it is a medium that does have its challenges, and Jill demonstrated how to work with this type of paint.

Oil and Acrylic Workshop with Jamel Akib

.Jamele encouraged attendees to create several pieces of art during this exciting workshop, with themes including his Vibrant Birds, Abstracts, Landscapes and Figurative Portraits. Students used brush strokes and gestural palette knife marks. No painting painstaking detail here; instead, we looked at the rhythm of strokes, light and vibrant colour.

During the workshop, we will learn how to pastel waves, sand, and froth with Sue, including: Aerial View Waves, Crashing Waves, Beach Waves; how to create sand, froth, and realistic waves with water spatter; and learn different blending techniques to create textures, volume, and depth in the waves.
